The Center for Innovation in Risk, Catastrophes, and Decisions (CIRCAD), a National Science Foundation Industry–University Cooperative Research Center (IUCRC), is launching its inaugural research portfolio. CIRCAD is a joint Center led in partnership by Duke University and the University of Georgia, bringing together researchers, industry leaders, and government partners to advance decision-relevant research on climate risk and resilience.

Working in collaboration with its inaugural partners, the Center’s first research portfolio includes four projects:

  • Incentive Dynamics in Climate Resilience Systems: Insurance, Public Infrastructure, and Private Adaptation;
  • Climate-Driven Aging, Dynamic Vulnerability, and Economic Network Cost Evaluation;
  • Framing Environmental Risk: Modeling the Process of Climate-Contingent Investment; and
  • High-Resolution Weather Risk Assessment for Seasonal to Decadal Planning.

Projects are led by joint, interdisciplinary teams spanning Duke University and the University of Georgia. Together, these efforts position CIRCAD to generate actionable insights that support more resilient infrastructure, more effective risk management, and better-informed investment decisions.
